Enroll in an Approved Driver Education Course. Teens must be at least 15 years old to start. Sign up for a state-approved course, which includes 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training.
Obtain a Learner’s Permit. The Permit Application is provided on day 1 of class. Apply for Permit, pass a written test and a vision screening at the DMV. Practice driving with a licensed adult (21+ years old) for at least 50 hours, including 10 hours at night.

Students must hold their permit for a minimum of 9 months from the date of issue. Additional requirements can be viewed on the Secretary of State Facility Checklist.
