Top Driver Approved as First and Only Company to Provide Online Illinois Adult Driver’s Ed Course
Top Driver announced today that they have been approved by the Secretary of State of Illinois to provide both an online 6-hour Adult driver’s education course as well as a 6-hour classroom course for 18-20 year olds. Top Driver is the first and only certified driver education company to be approved by the Secretary of State to provide an online training course for 18-20 year olds.
Effective July 1st, a new law requires people ages 18-20 who did not attend driver education to complete a 6-hour driver training and education course before applying for a driver’s license.
Prior to this law, when teens turned 18 – even without any driver education whatsoever – they were allowed to apply for and obtain a driver’s license. In 2013, there were 37,543 driver’s licenses issued to 18-20 year-olds. Of those, 18,532 did not take driver education.
Top Driver is the largest driver’s education company in the state of Illinois, operating 31 locations. Top Driver also manages classrooms in Ohio and Michigan and is one of the first driver education companies to be approved in January 2014 to provide online teen courses in Ohio.
Top Driver will continue to provide traditional classroom and in-vehicle lessons in those communities that they serve in Illinois but will also begin to offer the online course throughout the state to the 18-20 year-old market. Top Driver is bringing their expertise and years of experience of training teens the skills and knowledge of driving to be “intelligent drivers” to this new online curriculum. The online course was just completed and developed and uses the latest educational techniques to keep the student engaged and interacting to ensure the best educational experience.
